Three Top Meditations for Happiness and Prosperity

If you’ve never meditated before, you might find a guide to meditation to be useful, but the fact is that nothing is more useful than real world experience. People spend plenty of time talking about different meditation techniques, be they the methods of Buddhism meditation, Zen meditation, or some other school altogether. But the fact is that the practice is much less important than the practitioner. If you approach meditation with good intentions and diligent study, you will get where you want to go..

Meditation offers many benefits, from inner peace to overall health. You can use it to feel better about your body, or to de-stress after a hard day at work. Contained here are three meditations for prosperity and happiness.

First let’s define what happiness is so that you can improve yours. Some may think that happiness is the feeling of euphoric emotions. But emotions change, quickly. Happiness really is the sustained feeling of satisfaction, joy, and acceptance in your life, and about yourself. Therefore happiness truly comes from within. The three meditations described below are an exercise you can do to change your mind-set, state-of-mind, attitude, or outlook. This is not an effort to empty your mind, but to focus it on on what’s healthful, peaceful, successful.

Meditation #1 – The Forest

  • Be at peace by closing your eyes, laying down, while breathing deeply, in, and out.
  • Focus on the image of a forest, and walk slowly through the wooded area — you’re alone and can hear the birds chirping, feel the soothing breeze slowly blowing against your face.
  • With each breath you take, repeatedly think to yourself: “Everything I need to know is within me.” Whatever disturbing thoughts that you have come from either fear of what might happen (the future), or what did happen (the past). But right now in the present you are only experiencing the peace that you imagine.
  • Feel the warmth of the sun cascading onto your skin, and see the gorgeous redwood trees, as high as the sky. Take in each and every moment, and explore the happiness that is already within you. From this state of peace you can devise the steps necessary to best handle whatever problem(s) disturbed you.

Meditation #2 – The Beach

  • As stated above, be at peace. The greater you imagine this the more real it will be for you. Close your eyes, and breathe in deeply.
  • As you exhale, imagine taking off your shoes and digging your toes into the soft white sands of the beach.
  • Slowly walk towards the water and smell the saltwater, enjoy the cool breeze whispering calmly into your ears as the sun pours its warmth onto you.
  • Sit down under your beach umbrella and take in the view of your surroundings. Tell yourself that you are surrounded by love, just like you are surrounded by the ocean’s beauty right now.
  • At this very moment, you are filled with riches, and when you come out of this visualization, the “riches” will continue flowing to you—your mind is clear to realize the different avenues of income possible for you, unexpected bonuses, and even from successful interactions with complete strangers who will now believe in you because of your clarity of thought, and ease of expression.

Meditation #3 – The Empty Box

  • Be at peace. Sit comfortably, close your eyes and breathe in and out, deeply.
  • Imagine yourself holding an empty box, now open it up, and begin to put each item one by one into the box.
  • Those items are your fears that are weighing you down, your worries like your worry about future, bills, deadlines, the responsibility that parenting brings you, those “unanswerable” questions you want answers to, etc.
  • Feel the relief each time you drop an item into the box. Imagine feeling lighter and lighter with each item that’s lifted off of you and placed in the box—fill up the box until it contains all your fears and worries. Now you have no fears and worries left.
  • So now open your eyes and repeat to yourself: “All my fears and worries are now safely tucked away. I can go through the rest of my day with ease, joy, and happiness. I deserve this, and I accept it as my truth.”

Remember, if you want to increase your happiness you don’t always have to fret about searching for answers and ways to solve your particular problem(s), sometimes the best thing you can do is sit still, breath in and out, and get to know the depths of yourself—where true happiness resides. These meditation techniques can help you reach deep within yourself, one minute at a time when you devote yourself fully to the present moment, and your present breath!
